WELCOME TO OTHERSIDE DELI

Otherside Deli in Austin, Texas was founded in 2017 by Derrick Smith and Conor Mack, two friends who hail from Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore, respectively. Smith spent five years slinging pastrami at Philly's famed Hershel's East Side Deli, and when he moved to Austin, he missed the brined and smoked meat served so elegantly between rye.

Smith and Mack started out with a food truck parked outside of the bar Back Lot, serving sandwiches that earned accolades from customers and critics alike (the Statesman's Matthew Odam called their pastrami Reuben the best in Texas). In 2018, they opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant on West 34th Street.

 

Today, Otherside Deli is known for its high-quality meats, fresh ingredients, and friendly service. It has been featured in numerous publications and won several awards, including the Austin Monthly First Plates Award for Best Sandwich Shop in 2019.
